Are your receivables all sitting in retirement? Write-offs. Aging.
Cutting costs is one of the first things businesses do in difficult times, but what about the potential cash sitting in your books? Many factors affect DSO (daily sales outstanding):
- Develop a scorecard to assess the credit of potential new customers. Get as much information as possible about a potential new customer.
- Monitor the relationship. Grade or rate your customers by risk.
- Review Limits and terms when necessary. Notice the red flags and take action.
- If accounts continue to age, centralize a collection process. It is important to have a collection process separate from your credit process and separate from sales.
